Dog Flea Essential Oil help!
From Samantha Bronzeill : What can I do for fleas my baby is starting to bite her back and it's fleas.
Me: It's that time of year where fleas come out and we had a very warm winter for Florida so it did not kill off the fleas so expect to have another rough flea season. To answer your question:
TO START - Dog Collar:
1. Use 100% Clinical grade Essential Oils on Dog Collars for Flea Control (you can purchase them here www.beautybycarisa.com) IF YOU USE ANYTHING LESS THAN CLINICAL GRADE YOU RISK YOUR PETS LIFE LITERALLY AND never USE TEA TREE OIL ON YOUR PET. YOU WILL HAVCE PEOPLE THAT TELL YOU IT'S OK, IT'S NOT, SO YOU TAKE THAT CHANCE WITH YOUR FUR FAMILY.
It only takes a few drops of the oil 1-3 on your dog collar (not a flea collor with chemical flea repellent already on it. the combination can be deadly through inhalation) I like to use bandana since they are so cheap at a dollar store and cute. you don’t have to worry about your pet having a tight collar on. Here’s a list of essential oils that can get your loved dog rid of fleas.
NOT MEANT TO USE THEM ALL pick ONE!
Eucalyptus 1-2 drops Peppermint 1-2 drops Pennyroyal 1-2 drops Cedarwood 1-3 drops Citronella 1-2 drops Lavender 1-3 drops (my choice and what I use White Thyme 1-2 drops Basil 1-3 drops Clove 1-2 drops Lemon 1-2 drops
Take the dog collar. Put the drops of ONE of the essential oils from the list above. If you worry about harming your dog with such strong oils, you may dilute the oil by mixing it with 2-3 tablespoons of water or a carrier oil such as vegetale oil or almond oil.
If mixing up to 3 of the above oils create a blend (add the oils to another bottle and allow them to marry then you have a blend.) Then you must mix 3-4 carrier oils together (vegetable, grape seed, almond, coconut are all good and cheap including olive oil) and then pour 2-3 drops of your essential oil blend into your carrier oils mix. Then apply and rub around with your hands onto your dog’s collar. Make a blend that soothes your nerves (lowest note & citrus such as (lavender, cedarwood, Basil, Lemon) and sooth your fear of starting to use oils on your pet. .
Rub the oil drops into the collar. Now tie this collar around the neck of your dog but not to tight. Re-Apply and do weekly. Using the SAME blend and washing the collar in soapy castile soap water then let dry.
NEXT: Spray treatment:
Sprays are effective way to prevent flea from disturbing and harming your dogs. In fact, these flea sprays can have multiple use. While you can always spray them on your dog for a nice glow along with preventing fleas, you may use these solutions as collar dips or just spritz the collar with it. Here’s the recipe for an excellent flea spray for your dog. Also excellent for furniture and home flea protection as well as cleaning as these ingredients have various purposes.
How To: • Apple cider vinegar- 1 cup • Water- 1 liter • lavender or cedarwood oil (or any other essential oil of your choice)- 2-3 drops (on the above list) • Spray bottle- 1
Next: Add vinegar and oil to water and mix well. Then drop up to 4 drops of your blend or oil you choose from the list (NO MORE strill CLINICAL GRADE ONLY! Fill this solution in the spray bottle shake and ix well before each use.
Now spray this solution on to your dog’s body. Shielding their eyes and face. Do not drench your dogs, simply mist it on and rub into the fur with your hands.
Do not spray near face and take care so that the solution doesn’t go into eyes or ears. For these areas, you may dampen a clean cloth or cotton ball and use the solution and wipe off with it. Spray the solution on your pet’s bedding and its favorite places where it loves to lie down.
