10 Raw Honey DIY

DIY Honey Face Wash-

Raw Honey: Raw honey is simply honey that hasn’t been pasteurized. Due to the lack of pasteurization (heating), raw honey is naturally rich in antibacterial and probiotic properties. Honey is also gentle for sensitive skin, but tough enough to remove dirt and other impurities.(4oz) 1/2 cup honey

Castile Soap: One of my favorite multi-purpose DIY ingredients. Castile soap is a concentrated vegetable-based soap with easy to recognize ingredients. I recommend using either the Baby Mild Castile Soap or Tea Tree Castile Soap for facial cleansing. 1/4 cup castile

Nourishing Skin Oil: Since oil dissolves oil, it’s only natural to add a nourishing oil to a homemade face wash. I Suggest grapeseed, jojoba, peanut, olive oil or liquid coconut 4 tabespoons

Optional- The fourth ingredient is water, added to dilute the face wash and provide a bit of foaming action for your hands when mixed with the castile soap. This face soap will last several weeks to months so I recommend using distilled or boiled water to prevent bacteria from growing.

DIY Honey Lotion Bars-

Hard lotion bars are essentially the same as liquid lotion, except they are solid at room temperature. They are “activated” by the warmth of your skin, meaning once the lotion bar is applied to your skin, your natural body heat warms up the bar. This softens the bar which allows you to glide it on smoothly.

your choice of dru rose pedals or non allergic flower pedals

Directions

In a small bowl, lightly combine all ingredients. Set aside.

Wash your face and pat dry, leaving it slightly damp. Spread about a tablespoon of the honey mask evenly on all areas of your face and neck, avoiding eyes. Leave on 5-10 minutes.

Wash off completely, making sure to rinse hands and forearms of any lingering honey stickiness. Dry face and moisturize as usual.

DIY Honey Balanced Shampoo & Conditioner in one

PH is important is shampoo- Ideally you want the final ph to be between 4.5 and 5.5. All of the ingredients. Many DIY shampoo recipes call for mixing coconut milk with castile soap, but I skipped the soap and added raw honey instead. Many people have used castor oil to successfully grow hair, so I’ve included this in the recipe, but it can be skipped if your hair is naturally very greasy. I also use jojoba oil, which is technically a wax and closely mimics our hairs natural sebum.

This recipe won’t lather like regular shampoos, but it will cleanse and moisturize. Don’t use too much though, or you’ll end up with leftover residue in your hair, making it feel gunky.

Storing Your Shampoo

In theory this DIY PH balanced shampoo can be stored at room temperature, but to be safe I keep it in the fridge. If you want to make a big batch up, pour the mixture into ice cube trays and keep in the freezer for later. Thaw out a cube or two every week as needed. My hair is past my shoulders and I use about 2 teaspoons of shampoo on mine.

Ingredients 1 can full fat coconut milk (about 13.5 oz) - ph 6.1-7.0 2 Tbsp liquid raw honey - ph 3.9 1 tsp jojoba oil - ph 4.21 1 tsp castor oil - ph 4.65 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar - ph 3.1 1 tsp essential oils of choice (lavender, cedarwood, rosemary, peppermint, carrot, clary sage and tea tree are all good for hair; find our favorite organic, sustainable essential oils www.beautybycarisa.com)

Instructions Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk until smooth. This will separate some, so shake well before each use. To use, massage a small amount on the scalp and use your fingers or a comb to spread through the hair. Leave on for a few minutes before rinsing off. If your hair is naturally very oily, you can follow this up with an apple cider vinegar rinse made with ¼ cup apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup purified water.

DIY Honey Facial Toner

Facial toners are so important for restoring the natural pH balance of your skin. This features apple cider vinegar and peppermint essential oil to hydrate, smooth and more!

Bad skin has plagued me my entire life. I tried the popular products, the expensive remedies, and after years of breakouts I finally came to the conclusion: none of it worked. No matter how many different varieties I experimented with or how many chemicals I applied to my poor face there just wasn’t anything out there that worked for me.

So the simple conclusion? Stop buying it.

And for anyone who follows my website, the obvious conclusion came. I will make my own.

Whether your situation is like mine or you’re simply looking to reduce the amount of junk you put on your skin (you know those chemicals just seep right in, right?) I hope that this recipe will be helpful for you. You can use it throughout the day as a refreshing and awakening pick-me-up as a mist as well.

1 tablespoon honey 1/3 cup warm water 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (PH balance) 1 cup water 5 drops peppermint essential oil

DIY Coconut Oil Honey Hairmask Ingredients

1 tablespoon raw honey 1 tablespoon coconut oil

2. Pour 1 tablespoon of your honey and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil into a small bowl. For this you need to make sure your coconut oil is melted. Slightly warm your bottle of coconut oil by running it under hot water. 3. Mix thoroughly and your hair mask is ready for application! 1. Wet your hair and scalp and part your hair into two sections. 2. You can apply the hair mask by massaging it onto your scalp for 2-3 minutes first before slathering it onto your locks. 3. Leave the hair mask on for about 15 minutes. When the time is up, rinse off thoroughly using warm water. In the final rinse, use tepid to cold water to close up the hair follicles. 4. Wrap your hair in a fluffy towel. Keep your hair away from heat if you want to prevent damage by avoiding using a hair dryer if possible.

My Tips

1. Make sure your scalp and locks are wet before you apply this coconut oil honey hair mask. Be careful when applying though, wet hair is easily prone to breakage much more than dry hair. 2. Before applying, test to see if the hair mask is warm to touch but cool enough to apply onto your scalp. 3. Tie your hair into a low bun and cover with a shower cap to retain the warmth and enable the hair mask to penetrate deep.
